Priaxor Xemium Information
Please note that the notification of use of Priaxor Xemium to HDOA is no longer needed as of Nov. 1, 2023.

Priaxor® Xemium Brand Fungicide by BASF is a translaminar fungicide approved for use on coffee in Hawaii by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under a Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) Section 3 and supplemental label.

When applied preventatively, Priaxor® Xemium Brand Fungicide provides a layer of protection against Coffee Leaf Rust (CLR) caused by the fungus Hemileia vastatrix. Priaxor Xemium forms a protective barrier on the leaf surface and along with translaminar properties, will stop infection from germinating spores and subsequent colonization on the underside of the leaf surface. Priaxor should be used in an integrated pest management program that includes scouting, fungicide rotation and consideration of cultural, biological and other chemical control practices.

Producers using Priaxor® Xemium on coffee in Hawaii will need to follow all Section 3 specimen label directions and instructions. In addition, they will need to have the Priaxor Coffee Supplemental label in possession and follow all additional directions.  It is a violation of federal law to use this product, or any pesticide, in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. The label is the law.
  • Priaxor Xemium product specimen (section 3) label
  • Priaxor Xemium Coffee Supplemental Label (effective 11/1/23) - also available from distributors

Instructions for Priaxor Handlers and Applicators Prior to Use
Before using Priaxor Xemium, you should be:
  • Worker Protection Standard (WPS) trained if you are an agricultural worker and/or pesticide handler. WPS is required annually. If you are not up-to-date with your WPS training, contact your local HDOA Pesticides Educational Specialist (listed below) or UH-CTAHR extension agent for the next WPS training opportunity. If your employer or farm manager is trained as a WPS trainer (by i.e. HDOA or PERC), they will be able to provide you the WPS training.
  • Approved by a medical physician to wear a respirator. Respirators are required when applying Priaxor with handheld spray equipment.
  • Fit tested and trained to wear a respirator. See the Pesticide Use FAQs for additional information about medical evaluations and respirator fit testing and training.

Presentation on Priaxor Xemium Use and Label Requirements
Please note that the notification of use of Priaxor Xemium to HDOA is no longer needed as of Nov. 1, 2023. However, WPS should be followed and record keeping should be completed whenever handling and applying pesticides.
