Food Safety Concerns - Slug, feces, etc.

Slugs, feces, rodents and other potential vectors of human-transferred illnesses and diseases are observed in coffee farms and on trees, leaves, stumps, immature berries and ripe cherry.

Take precautions to limit exposure to potential diseases that could affect human health.
  • Eliminate slugs, rats, and other vector on your farm by following a control program with monitoring schedules for baits, bait stations and traps.
  • Rinse and rub all produce to remove slugs and slime. Sanitize food-contact surfaces to prevent cross- contamination.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and properly.
