Speakers Dr. Melissa Johnson and Dr. Lisa Keith of USDA-PBARC will share information and updates about monitoring for Coffee Leaf Rust (CLR) and the testing of various fungicide products for efficacy and CLR control. Julie Coughlin of UH-CTAHR and the IR-4 Program, will talk about their CLR fungicide trials as well. Hawaii's IR-4 Program helps to registered pesticides for use on specialty crops. These products can include systemic fungicides and pesticides not currently labeled for coffee. In addition, Melanie Bondera of HDOA will present on the state's CBB and CLR pesticide subsidy program.

​About a week before the live Q&A with presenters, each speaker's pre-recorded presentation will be uploaded to the Kona Extension's YouTube "Coffee Leaf Rust" playlist. Those interested, will be able to view the presentations beforehand and then join us for the 30-45 min LIVE Q&A session on Feb. 8. The pre-recorded presentations will also be played before the Q&A session for those not able to view them earlier.

  • 3:45 PM - Registration of Fungicides for Coffee Leaf Rust - presented by Julie Coughlin of UH-CTAHR's IR-4 Program 
  • 3:52 PM - Overview of HDOA's CBB and CLR Pesticide Subsidy Program - presented by Melanie Bondera of HDOA
  • Short Break
  • 4:00 PM - LIVE Q&A with the presenters (Johnson, Keith, Coughlin, and Bondera with Kawabata at moderator)​
