Coffee Leaf Rust (CLR), the most devastating disease of coffee worldwide, was identified on Maui in Oct. 2020 and is now found on Lanai, Oahu and in Kona. Without early detection and proper management, CLR will cause defoliation (leaf drop) of the branches which then leads to poor berry development and a reduction in yield, tree health and farm profit. All current commercially-grown varieties in Hawaii are susceptible to CLR.
Presenters Dr. Lisa Keith of USDA-ARS DKI PBARC and Andrea Kawabata of UH-CTAHR, will provide participants the opportunity to learn about CLR biology and how to control this fungal pathogen with current management techniques and tools. We welcome all coffee farmers to join us for this informational coffee leaf rust webinar. Topic: Coffee Leaf Rust 101 Webinar
