Train-the-Trainer Workshop:
Worker Protection Standard

Become qualified to train farm employees who work in the field, handle, and/or apply (organic or non-organic) pesticides

September 24, 2020
10:30 am to 12:30 pm
Kona Cooperative Extension Service Conference Room
(79-7381 Mamalahoa Highway, Kealakekua, HI 96750)

Registration, masks, and 6’ social distancing are required.
There is a 10-person maximum for this workshop due to gathering restrictions.

Register at www.hawaiicoffeeed.com/t3 or contact Matt at 808-322-0164 to reserve your seat.

Did you know that a farmworkers who enters a field (within 30 days of last pesticide application), who handles, and/or applies pesticides, must be WPS trained? Many, if not all farms regardless of organic or conventional farming methods, use pesticides if applying a product to kill a beetle, bug, fungus, mite, rat, or weed.

Learn how to keep yourself, your workers, customers, and the environment safe from improper use, storage, handling, application, and disposal of pesticides.

AND, become a qualified trainer of federal worker protection standards (WPS) by attending and participating in this Train-the-Trainer Workshop.

This workshop will be presented by Mr. Cal Westergard of HDOA. This 2-hour class is open to all employers, owners, managers, and agricultural employees on farms, forests, nurseries, and greenhouses. The class will cover the current WPS provisions and requirements as well as any new rule changes.

Participants will receive a WPS booklet, certification with attendance and sign-out, and access to a PowerPoint for future farmworker WPS training.

For more information about the class, contact the HDOA Pesticides Branch at (808) 974-4143 or 333-2844.
