Purchasing quality coffee is the first step to brewing and enjoying the perfect cup of coffee. However, there are choices along the way that a consumer can unknowingly make thereby ruining a perfectly good cup and creating an unpleasant experience. The goal of this tasting workshop is to bring awareness to consumers (and growers) of the basic methods of storing, roasting, and brewing 100% Kona Coffee.

Participants will taste their way to learning about the effects of stale versus fresh roasted coffee, and how different water qualities and temperature, and different roasts affect the flavor of brewed coffee.

These events are open to the public, but require a workshop fee of $20 and a ($5) 2019 Kona Coffee Cultural Festival button with pre-registration. Registrants can opt out of paying for a button if they already purchased one, but will need show off their festival spirit by sporting their festival button during the cupping event.

Class sizes are limited to 12 people. And, coffees will be served black.

This workshop is sponsored by UH CTAHR, the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival and Lehuula Farms.
