Foliar Fertilizers
Although not all products can be combined, the use of foliar fertilizers has increased and is incorporated with spray regiments for the control of CBB and CLR. Be sure to follow all pesticide and fertilizer label directions. Foliar fertilizers are applied to the tree canopy and are useful for increasing nutritional levels in the plant when root systems are damaged or compromised by pests or diseases and when supplemental macro and micronutrients are needed quickly and not available by root uptake alone.
Avoid spraying foliar fertilizers during drought and high temperatures or risk phytotoxicity, leaf and flower burning, and plant death. Spraying during light to heavy rain causes wash-off of foliar fertilizers, thereby reducing uptake and effectiveness. In addition, protect pollinators by spraying when bees and other pollinators are not actively foraging.
